I am sure like most people you don’t take much notice of your tyres until one goes flat or they need to be replaced. But did you know that if you have a tyre maintenance plan and look after your tyres you will greatly increase the life of your tyres and you and your families safety on the road.
Humphrey’s Tyres and Air Conditioning on the Gold Coast is offering a special during November 2015 – $99 rotate, balance and wheel alignment on passenger vehicles and $118 for 4WD’s.
By doing a rotate, balance and wheel alignment every 10,000 km’s not only can you improve the life of your tyres but you can also increase your fuel consumption and overall vehicle performance including braking and your safety in the wet.
Tyres tend to wear unevenly – front tyres tend to wear on the outside edges because the tyre leans over when you go around corners, roundabouts etc whereas the rear tyres just follow the front so they tend to wear more evenly. If you don’t rotate your tyres the front tyres will wear down quicker than the rear and you will have to replace the tyres thousands of kilometres before you should.
The other common cause is incorrect tyre pressures. Running the correct tyre pressures is essential if you want to get the most out of your tyres.
Under inflation is the major cause of blow outs and can also prematurely wear your tyres with uneven wear, heavy steering and increased fuel consumption and by over inflating your tyres may result in a rough ride, uneven wear and risk of tyre impact damage.
Your tyres will show you if you have been running the correct pressures. The most common fault is under inflation, which cannot only reduce your tyre life by 30%, yet also decrease your fuel consumption by 10%.
To alleviate this problem here at Humphrey’s Tyres and Air Conditioning, Southport we fill all our new tyres fitted with nitrogen – free of charge! Nitrogen is a thicker molecule and does not leak out of the tyre as quickly as air. Did you know if you are using air in your tyres you should check your tyre pressures monthly? With Nitrogen you only have to check your pressures once every five to six months. Click here to find out more benefits of nitrogen.
